Nha Trang

Bao Dai was the last emporer of Vietnam and he built a set of villas overlooking the beach and harbor at Nha Trang back in the 1920s. When his reign ended the villas were used by the president of the country and other high-ranking officials.

After looking around Nha Trang at a number of the hotels along the beach, we drove up the hill to Bao Dai's Villas, now a hotel. The gracious manager walked us around to choose a room and we decided to check in. Our room ran us $40 US per night, which included breakfast in the outdoor restaurant.

Our room was absolutely gorgeous, with a private balcony, sitting room and large bathroom. The shuttered windows opened up to let in the fresh ocean breezes and the balcony afforded us a breathtaking view of the harbor and beach.

We had the opportunity to see a few of the other rooms and none of them were as beautiful as our room, so if you ever get to Nha Trang and decide to stay at the Bao Dai, ask for room #306.
